We used a wide range of new media technologies, these played a big impact in our production, we wouldn't have been able to complete our finished film without these.
Having already had past experience with Blogger, i feel that it was easy to use and that i could show the understanding of my work alot clearer and a better understanding of my work.
Without google i wouldnt have been able to research our chosen genre, pictures our technologies.
The Apple Mac and iTunes have played a huge part in recording our film without these we wouldnt have been able to edit our film, create music.

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I think as a group we have learned from our audience feedback that im some scenes we could have had more work on them. I feel that the main reason of a few laughs is because the people who play the characters are there friends so they find it funny. We have now realised what we could do next time to make it a very succesful short film. Our audience did comment on the editing techniques used and camera skills,So overall very positive feedback.
2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Our theme of our film is black and white which gives us an insight of the 1940's era.On the front of our poster we included actors and the creators behind the film names. In the review we used the same picture, so it doesnt give too much away,to make the film feel more real we added in a link so our target audience could catchup on the latest news.Having a genre of film noir, i feelas a whole group we created that succesfully, using the correct camera work, editing and costumes.Having changed our target audience we decided to put it at 15-25 we feel that the products will appeal to amuch wider audience. I feel that our posterand review will boost up our audiences and grab thereattention to it. As social networking sites are more popular than ever we would have advertising through them like facebook and twitter.

Our finished film
Above is our completed film 'Marilyn' We have tried to keep to the codes and conventions of Film Noir, this was acheived by costume, props, storyline, sound and camera.
Textual Analysis
Looking back at our film we feel that we should have chose our locations more thoroughly, so that we could create the best of the filming period we got. We also gave our film realistic theme by creating our time period in the 1940's.If we got the chance to do it all again i feel that we all should have jobs in which we had to complete to make it alot more easier and a quicker process. The editing has made the film alot more successful and a entertaining piece.
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our film product uses the conventions of real media products because it uses the same styles of the film Noir detective films. We also developed the idea of real media products by converting the idea of the male dominance in Film Noir, detective film. In our film our detective is a female and her partner is a male, the detective's partner saves the day whereas normally the detective would save the day.

Trouble with set and actors
We do seem to have occurrence of problems but we do over come them. Firstly time and location is a big one because our film is set in the day and night and we need to pick the correct location, actors has been another issue but has been sorted out now with changing one of our actors because they couldn't make it so now we have someone who has more free time.
Filming
A problem had occurred whilst filming with an actor that could no longer take part but it was resolved. We decided to film the detective interrogating Marylin about her husbands murder, we had lots of props like sofa, chair and some tempory walls and a telephone. Another advantage was that we used the school theatre which was very helpful to our scene.
Filming process in pictures
As i wasn't in this scene i thought it was a good idea to take a few pictures to see how set, and characters.

Here above is our 2 detectives in costume

Tom (camera man sorting out the lighting which took a while but we got there in the end)
Our first day of filming
During this we had a few problems with the street being busy with cars, and people walking past this did take upto about an hour then the camera battery died but we will only be using little parts of the footage taken.

Recording
This is a picture of (Kirsty Rice) who is playing our main character `Marilyn' walking up the street having come home from work and (Tom Johnson) who is our camera man. Having had to record the same part a few times to make sure it was looked correct here is a picture of our working progress, with it being dark quality because we wanted to film at night with the effect of the street lights on.
Storyboard
We had to create a storyboard that shows whats happening in each scene with drawings, timing spent on each scene and speech thats said and what shots we would like to use.
Our cast and costumes
Tom Johnson; who is our camera man and director, he doesnt need a costumes as hes never on screen.
Kirsty; Shes the main character and whos plays `Marilyn' We decided to dress her in a 1950's style which matches our era. Also her fur coat, black heels and her accessories which shows her wealth and luxury. With her black clothing also shows that shes a mysterious character.
Sophie (myself) I play the policewoman who's the first one onto the scene talking to Marilyn in her state of shock and i explain to the detectives how shes coping and whats exactly occurred. Ive got a simple costume with black shoes and trousers and a white shirt this shows that its a smart and respectable.
Film Noir Posters
`Stranger On The Third Floor' is an example of film noir, with its unsettling compositions, low-camera angles and with the multi-storey staircases; these elements are reflected in the film’s poster. The story follows an innocent protagonist falsely accused of murder and his desperate quest to clear his name.
`Born to Kill' used to be called 'Lady of Deceit'' The story follows a divorcée risks her chances at wealth and security with a man she doesn't love by getting involved with the hotheaded murderer

Marilyn
Our main character is Marilyn Winters and she's played by Kirsty Rice Marilyn is a woman of wealth and leisure who loves her luxuries.Shes the murderer in this short film and you believe as an audience that shes the innocent one as the private detective and his partner interrogate her.Throughout the short film Marilyn is wearing a dress which symbolises she's the antagonist.

Problems With Theories
Here in this video shows how Marilyn Manson got blamed for the columbine massacre his responce to this is
'Keep everyone afraid and they'll consume'
'Keep everyone afraid and they'll consume'
- People dont listen
- Poster boy for fear (so people are afraid of him)
- President bombings/ foreign policy
- People don't listen
- Conforming
This video explains that people went to the cinema to watch one thing and it didn't matter what it was, they just wanted to watch it. it was an expensive and interesting thing. If your watching television you would have to watch whatever was on until it was switched off. Things have changed you can watch anything and you chose to because you can.
Audience Theories
The Hypodermic Syringe Theory says that the consumers are affected by media for example newspaper, magazines and television etc, but have no say in how the actual media controls them and what influence they have and the impact in which they portray things. The main idea of the Uses and Gratifications model is that people are victims of all-powerful media, but use media to fulfill their various needs.
The Cultivation Theory
It emphasize the effects of television viewing on the attitudes rather than the behaviour of viewers
It emphasize the effects of television viewing on the attitudes rather than the behaviour of viewers
Watching television may tend to induce a general mindset about violence in the world, quite apart from any effects it might have in inducing violent behaviour.
Audience
- In the film industry you have to have a specific group of people within the market which is a target audience.
- Niche is a smaller type of audience its aimed at people unique taste in films, they mostly like independent films and social realist ones.
- Hollywood films is an example of a Mass audiences are a larger audience with a range of interests.
- A demographic provides enough information of the usual member.
Narrative
The plot- Is the narrative as its seen, hear and read from the beginning to the end.
The storyline- Its the narrative which is being told in chronological order.
Here is what our group came up our task was we got given these pictures and we put them in an order of a story and after all of the groups came up with something completly different.

Ideology
Ideology is one the most important things because it underpins the media text. It tends to refer to the way in which people think about the world and their ideal concept of how to live in the world The jargon is a good examaple of this.

Film Noir
Film noir films are described best as crime dramas, dark city street bathed in shadows. The scenes of film noir are all disturbingly familiar, as are the archetypal characters: the hard-boiled detective, the dangerously alluring femme fatale, and the well-heeled villain surrounded by gun-toting thugs. We've subverted our film with women playing male roles and our cast is mostly women and our detective being a woman rather than a male.

changing of genre
Having had a long discussion with my group we all feel that we should change the genre which was thriller to film noir detective because of thriller could class into the genre of horror. We decided to choose a short film, we tilited our film as `Marilyn` we thought this title would be good as it’s not giving away anything away with the film but also it’s a memorable name as it’s an woman’s name.
Storyline
In the opening scene Marilyn is ringing the police to say her husband has been murdered, She is the murder. We then cut to the police at her house you don’t see the actual body, just the chalk outline. The detective begins to ask questions and interrogates but doesn’t suspect its Marilyn. She then finds out someone knows her secret, then commits another crime and kills somebody else, Clues are then found which leads the detective to Marylyn killing her husband. The detective then goes to arrest her but she refuses and then again tries to kill the detective but luckily his partner is there and stops her and kills her before she can commit another murder.

An introduction to trailers
The term trailer comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a feature film screening. That practice did not last long, because patrons tended to leave the theater after the films ended, but the name has stuck. Trailers as a whole are now shown before the film starts, but a teaser trailer is normally about 30 seconds to a minute long which includes the best shots of the film into that. They are sometimes shown when the film is still in production and in the editing process as a result they sometimes feature a particular scenes and alernatae versions of scences that arent sometimes in the finished product.
An example of an early teaser trailer is superman a film by Richard Donner it was nearly a year late, it was designed to re-invigorate interest in the release.
