Problems With Theories
Here in this video shows how Marilyn Manson got blamed for the columbine massacre his responce to this is
'Keep everyone afraid and they'll consume'
'Keep everyone afraid and they'll consume'
- People dont listen
- Poster boy for fear (so people are afraid of him)
- President bombings/ foreign policy
- People don't listen
- Conforming
This video explains that people went to the cinema to watch one thing and it didn't matter what it was, they just wanted to watch it. it was an expensive and interesting thing. If your watching television you would have to watch whatever was on until it was switched off. Things have changed you can watch anything and you chose to because you can.
Audience Theories
The Hypodermic Syringe Theory says that the consumers are affected by media for example newspaper, magazines and television etc, but have no say in how the actual media controls them and what influence they have and the impact in which they portray things. The main idea of the Uses and Gratifications model is that people are victims of all-powerful media, but use media to fulfill their various needs.
The Cultivation Theory
It emphasize the effects of television viewing on the attitudes rather than the behaviour of viewers
It emphasize the effects of television viewing on the attitudes rather than the behaviour of viewers
Watching television may tend to induce a general mindset about violence in the world, quite apart from any effects it might have in inducing violent behaviour.
Audience
- In the film industry you have to have a specific group of people within the market which is a target audience.
- Niche is a smaller type of audience its aimed at people unique taste in films, they mostly like independent films and social realist ones.
- Hollywood films is an example of a Mass audiences are a larger audience with a range of interests.
- A demographic provides enough information of the usual member.
Narrative
The plot- Is the narrative as its seen, hear and read from the beginning to the end.
The storyline- Its the narrative which is being told in chronological order.
Here is what our group came up our task was we got given these pictures and we put them in an order of a story and after all of the groups came up with something completly different.

Ideology
Ideology is one the most important things because it underpins the media text. It tends to refer to the way in which people think about the world and their ideal concept of how to live in the world The jargon is a good examaple of this.

Film Noir
Film noir films are described best as crime dramas, dark city street bathed in shadows. The scenes of film noir are all disturbingly familiar, as are the archetypal characters: the hard-boiled detective, the dangerously alluring femme fatale, and the well-heeled villain surrounded by gun-toting thugs. We've subverted our film with women playing male roles and our cast is mostly women and our detective being a woman rather than a male.

changing of genre
Having had a long discussion with my group we all feel that we should change the genre which was thriller to film noir detective because of thriller could class into the genre of horror. We decided to choose a short film, we tilited our film as `Marilyn` we thought this title would be good as it’s not giving away anything away with the film but also it’s a memorable name as it’s an woman’s name.
Storyline
In the opening scene Marilyn is ringing the police to say her husband has been murdered, She is the murder. We then cut to the police at her house you don’t see the actual body, just the chalk outline. The detective begins to ask questions and interrogates but doesn’t suspect its Marilyn. She then finds out someone knows her secret, then commits another crime and kills somebody else, Clues are then found which leads the detective to Marylyn killing her husband. The detective then goes to arrest her but she refuses and then again tries to kill the detective but luckily his partner is there and stops her and kills her before she can commit another murder.
